A feral cat was going blind, fending for her life. A group of rescuers took her out of the forest. Not only did they save her, but also four tiny fur babies in her belly.

Meet Skye!

A beautiful calico had lived in a feral colony in Ft. Langley, British Columbia for all her life. One day, caregivers from TinyKittens Society saw her growing belly and cloudy eyes, and knew she was getting really sick by the day and needed immediate help, so they sprang into action.

“She came to us feral, pregnant and nearly blind from untreated viral ulcers in both eyes,” TinyKittens said. “We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into by trying to treat a pregnant feral cat, but we had to try.”

They knew she and her kittens wouldn’t stand a chance in the forest, so brought her in to treat her eyes and give her a safe place at the shelter to have her babies.

When she arrived, she was very scared of humans just like any other feral cats, but soon she realized that the people there were helping her get better, and she began to change.

“Skye was regularly taking treats and kibble from my hand, purring when I pet her, and allowing me to stick my hand into her nest to pet and feed her. She ate in front of me and put her tail up for the first time in response to being petted after she exited my lap and was standing next to me,” a volunteer of TinyKittens reported progress.

To everyone’s surprise, within days, Skye warmed up to her human friends and developed a flair for lounging in the sink of her very own private quarters at TinyKittens.

“Little did anyone know, she would need an emergency C-section to save her life, and all 4 of her kittens: the floofy Belfast, cuddly Kohler, dapper Justin, and fabulous Farrah Fawcett!” ( Belfast & Kohler – The Sink Kittens, Jedikittens – Luke & Leia – Luke & Leia)

The babies were born healthy. Mama was very pleased.

“She has been allowing us to give meds and handle kittens to weigh and monitor them, which is pretty incredible for a newly formerly feral cat,” a caregiver wrote in an update.

“(She) later was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. ER vets recommended euthanasia because they had never heard of a cat as sick as Skye being adopted out.

” We refused to give up on her, because she deserved a chance,” TinyKittens wrote.

All four kittens were later adopted into good homes.

“Miraculously, a wonderful woman named Kari was following Skye’s story and fell in love with her.”

Kari adopted Skye, who is now a pampered princess surrounded by love, comfort and the very best medical care for life.

She can’t see through her left eye and is on heart medication, but Skye is so happy to have a loving home where she owns all the sinks in the house and gets loved every minute by her forever humans.
