The first floral display in the Middle East of the legendary Disney character Mickey Mouse will be tough to beat after it broke a world record.
To mark a new licensing deal between Dubai Miracle Garden and The Walt Disney Company, the new display is now the Tallest topiary sculpture (supported) at 18.06 m (59 ft 3 in) tall.
The sculpture was created in the UAE using almost 1000 different plants and flowers (including white petunia, red petunia, white geranium, yellow viola, zinnia marigold and green alternanthera), the sculpture weighs around 35 tons and is supported by a four-ton steel structure with a concrete foundation of 50 tons (45,359.2 kg) of reinforced concrete.
The floral recreation of the iconic Disney character created is now in Dubai Miracle Garden for visitors to enjoy with more characters planned for the upcoming winter in November 2018.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Kevin Southam confirmed the record and handed the certificate to Abdel Naser Rahhal, the creator and Co-Founder of Dubai Miracle Garden.
“We are delighted to win this recognition from Guinness World Records for this iconic Mickey Mouse structure at the start of our relationship with The Walt Disney Company,” Abdel Naser Rahhal.
“Over the years, Dubai Miracle Garden has evolved to become a truly integral part of Dubai’s tourist attractions and give visitors and residents alike a unique experience that allows people to enjoy the outdoors and nature in all its glory. This latest initiative will boost Dubai Miracle Garden’s popularity and appeal among UAE residents and tourists and add to Dubai’s reputation as a global tourist destination that offers a superlative destination experience.”
Dubai Miracle Garden now holds two Guinness World Records titles, having previously been recognised for having the Largest flower arrangement/sculpture with an Emirates Airbus A380 display.
