The cobra is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. It is usually black with light patches. However, have you ever heard of a white cobra?
Locals found a white cobra crawling on the entrance to a residential area in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu state, southern India. The snake is about 1.5 meters long, is an albino cobra, extremely rare in the wild.
Experts from the Wildlife and Nature Conservancy (WNCT) arrived at the scene and removed the snake from a residential area and released it into the forest in Anaikatti. The snake appeared after a severe rainstorm in the area, according to Livescience.
“Safely catching snakes is very important as this species is highly venomous. Their venom can cause paralysis and even death if not treated promptly. It is important to handle it. carefully and competently. Because any mistake can lead to serious consequences,” the WNCT representative said.
Albinism is an inherited condition that prevents animals from producing the pigment melanin, the pigment that gives color to skin, feathers, feathers, or scales. Albinos lack pigment in the iris, so their eyes are pale pink or reddish. In some cases, albino animals suffer from reduced vision or complete blindness, and their skin is very susceptible to sunburn.
According to the World Health Organization, between 81,000 and 138,000 deaths occur in India each year from snake bites.
Earlier, an albino cobra was discovered hiding in a rice mill in Sironcha, Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra state. Snake catcher Naeem Shaikh was called to the rescue.
He said the number of snake incidents in cities has increased as their natural habitat is increasingly shrinking.
