LeBron James has been holding on to the hope that he can someday play alongside eldest son, Bronny James in the NBA. After ony one year at USC playing for the Trojans, the oldest of LeBron’s children is making a decision that could be regarded as rushed. According to ESPN, Bronny James has decided to declare for the 2024 NBA Draft at the tender age of 19. Bronny doesn’t leave the NCAA transfer portal either with this decision as he remains open to the possibility to play for a different college program. Bronny’s goal is to maintain a certain level of flexibility understanding he can still keep playing college basketball if he wants. Over the next few months, Bronny James’ schedule will be wild and even difficult to follow.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania has also confirmed that Bronny James’ plan is to work out and visit NBA teams during the summer as he makes a draft decision based on how he does during thse workouts. There had been initial reports that Bronny would be committing to Duquesne University in the coming days but this report makes the NBA Draft later this year a must-watch. It is not certain yet whether Bronny James will become a new NBA player or what LeBron James is trying to do in order to get on the same team as his son. But this decision from Bronny James can signify the end of LeBron James’s career as a professional.
Should Bronny James get drafted by an NBA franchise, LeBron James will only need to get on the same team and play a single season with his son before calling it quits. Bronny issued a statement thanking USC for their support during one of the most difficult moments of his life and revealed his decision. His intention with this is to see if he is cut out to be an NBA player or not. Should he accomplish his goals, it will be interesting to see how high he gets in the NBA Draft rankings and which NBA franchise decides to draft him.
