Paris Saint-Germain players, including stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar, recently visited the construction site of their new £263 million training ground. Dressed in hard hats and jackets, the players got a firsthand look at the facility where they will begin training next season.
PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi invited the players to the site, expressing hope that the new training complex will provide them with the best possible conditions to achieve long-term success. Located east of the French capital, the new facility is about 20 miles from their current Camp des Lodges base and their stadium.
The training ground, which has been in the works since Qatar Sports Investments took over the club in 2011, is expected to be completed in the spring. The first team will move in at the start of pre-season, while academy players will transition in January 2024. PSG invested nearly €300 million to construct the complex, with construction beginning in 2016.
During the visit, PSG captain Marquinhos expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s simply amazing… It shows that the club is heading in the right direction and is like a big family.” He added that the new facility gives players confidence to continue performing at their best.
Al-Khelaifi emphasized that the training ground aims to strengthen PSG’s position as one of the world’s leading sports clubs for decades to come. While the club has enjoyed domestic success, winning eight Ligue 1 titles since the takeover, the ultimate goal remains winning the Champions League, and the new training facility is seen as a crucial step in achieving that ambition.
