Messi has not decided whether or not he will attend the 2026 World Cup.

“Many people have asked me this question. Right now, I just hope that 2024 ends well and I prepare well for 2025. From there, I will consider it based on my performance. At the moment I have not made the decision whether to attend the 2026 World Cup or not,” Messi replied in an interview with Fabrizio Romano on October 31.

Messi’s immediate goal is the MLS, where his team is competing in the play-off round. Inter Miami is aspiring to win the MLS Cup for the first time in history.

“The atmosphere in MLS is great. I used to think that in the United States people only cared a lot about basketball, baseball and soccer, but soccer is not far behind. This is a competitive tournament.

“Since I came to the United States, I have been to many places and have witnessed stadiums full of spectators. I am amazed by that. I love this tournament,” added the Argentine superstar.

The owner of eight Ballon d’Ors is a key factor for Inter Miami on their way to winning the MLS Supporter’s Shield title for the team with the best goalscoring performance in the MLS period. At 37 years old, Messi admitted that he had to change his style of play due to the influence of age.

“To adapt to the tournament and to the age issues, I need to change. I didn’t create a new style of play, I just changed a little bit in every aspect to adapt better. I felt comfortable playing in MLS from day one.”

Messi achieved his dream by winning the 2022 World Cup with the Argentine national team.

Messi can be considered the most successful player in the history of football. In terms of individual titles, he has 8 Ballon d’Ors, 3 times more than the runner-up, Ronaldo. In terms of collective titles, the Argentine superstar has won the championship 46 times, the most in history and more than the second person Daniel Alves, a player who has won the cup 44 times with different clubs.

“I am a lucky player to have won many titles. I also fulfilled my dream of winning the World Cup with the Argentine national team. I have a wonderful family, they are everything to me. So I am completely satisfied with what I have. I don’t know what impression the fans will have of me, but they can remember me however they want,” the Argentine superstar concluded the interview.
