The Nelspruit SPCA received a call Sunday morning about a dog getting its head stuck in a car after allegedly chasing a cat.
“The lady was unable to provide any additional information and we had no idea what we were dealing with,” the SPCA said.
“Was the dog hurt and in pain? Would the bumper need to be cut open to open it? Was she aggressive? We were prepared for all possible scenarios.”
Upon arrival, the dog was sedated to make the rescue as easy and painless as possible. Fortunately, her head could be removed without much effort and she was not injured.
He is currently recovering in the kennels of the Humane Society. It is not known who its owners are, so it will remain there until they claim it.
The SPCA thanked Dr. Donnie Engelbrecht of Van Wijkstraat Dierehospitaal for his incredible assistance.
