The confrontation between two of the top 4 venomous snakes in India happened and was accidentally caught on surveillance cameras, leaving viewers shivering. That scene was recorded on a farm in the state of Gujarat, India.
According to a member of the wildlife rescue organization Wildlife SOS, they went to Madhu farm in Kalali and witnessed the battle between two extremely venomous snakes, the Indian cobra and the Russel viper.
According to the description, the cobra is about 1.8m in size. Its opponent is about 1.5m long. The initial “fight” was quite tough, inconclusive. But then, the cobra tries to open its jaws to the fullest to grab the enemy’s head, then swallow it whole.
“The situation can turn out to be the other way around. Then, the Russel viper will be the winner and the cobra will be defeated and eaten. This is a common behavior among snakes. But normally, The one with the larger size will easily win over the opponent,” said Raj Bhavsar, coordinator of the Wildlife SOS project.
Reportedly, after the fight ended, members of Wildlife SOS took the cobra from the farm and released it back into its natural habitat.
The Indian cobra was first described in 1758. It is found in the Indian subcontinent and is a member of the “four great venomous snakes” – the four species of snakes responsible for most snakebites. in this country. But this reptile is revered in Indian mythology and culture. They can reach a length of up to 2m, specialized in hunting mammals, amphibians and lizards.
Meanwhile, the Russel viper also belongs to the group of “four greats”, which is the species that causes the majority of snakebites and deaths in the world. They often appear in places where people live.
This species possesses an appearance that includes all the characteristics of a viper such as a triangular head and a fat body. The average adult length is about 1.2m, but they can also reach 1.6m although very rare.
