With Lionel Messi in the squad, Inter Miami began their 2025 training season in Ft. Lauderdale with their second session under new head coach Javier Mascherano. On January 11, the players had medical exams, and two days later, they formally reported for training.

Mascherano said, “The feelings are very good,” expressing his happiness with the team’s return after the holiday break. We are aware that maintaining one’s position for so long is difficult, yet each person has completed their assigned task. They have responded quite favorably to group projects and reincorporation.

Preparing the roster for a preseason tour around North, South, and Central America is the coaching staff’s main priority. “I like my teams to play with intensity and courage, but we need to be calm as we start this process,” Mascherano said, underscoring the significance of intensity in training.
A player on the team named Yannick Bright emphasized Mascherano’s background as a coach and player to highlight the benefits of his leadership. Having participated in the greatest games and locations, he is an expert at what he does. While exercising, I did witness bursts of energy, and I adore it,” Bright stated.

Goalie Drake Callender and midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi will be attending the United States men’s national team training, meaning Inter Miami will not have a full roster for their first preseason friendly against Club América on January 18 in Las Vegas. This camp is being held at Inter Miami’s facilities, giving Messi, Mascherano, and USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino a chance to get to know one another.
