Lionel Messi continued his post-Qatar World Cup partying spree with his latest party, hosted by team-mate Angel Di Maria, before heading back to their respective clubs early in the new year.
Lionel Messi’s father has shared pictures of the Argentine star enjoying a night out with his wife Antonela, mother Celia and father Jorge. Angel Di Maria was also in attendance – the last “relaxation” before everyone returns to their clubs at the beginning of the new year.
Messi continued his post-World Cup celebrations by throwing a party in his hometown of Rosario, before the 35-year-old returns to PSG on January 2 or 3. His father, Jorge, posted pictures of the party on social media, featuring Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain with his wife Antonela and mother Celia. Angel Di Maria, who scored Argentina’s second goal in the thrilling final against France, was among those in attendance, along with Leandro Paredes.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Di Maria and Paredes will return to Juventus on January 2, after being granted additional time off by the club. Teammates Paulo Dybala and Lautaro Martinez have returned to Juventus’ Serie A rivals Roma and Inter Milan respectively.
Messi’s former international teammates Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodriguez were also seen at the party in Rosario. Mascherano played alongside Messi for eight years at Barcelona as well as at international level.
The party was held at the City Center Rosario complex, according to Rosario-based newspaper La Capital, which also hosted Messi’s wedding to Antonela in 2017. The venue was reportedly fenced off in preparation for the party in an effort to prevent Messi from being disturbed by overzealous fans.

Argentina’s success has left the Paris Saint-Germain star in constant harassment and he may have opted to ‘avoid public appearances’ over the Christmas period. Messi was mobbed by supporters on his way to his niece’s 15th birthday party earlier this week.
Messi later had to issue a message to his supporters after receiving the “Outstanding Citizen” plaque for his World Cup exploits from Funes Mayor Roly Santacroce, thanking fans for their support and apologizing for not being able to make more public appearances.
