Messi has more trophies than Ronaldo in 2024.

Messi has had a successful 2024 both at club and international level. With Inter Miami, M10 won the Supporters’ Shield after topping the 2024 MLS regular season standings with a record points tally. This achievement earned Inter Miami a chance to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

At the national team level, Messi and Argentina continued to dominate South American football when they won the Copa America 2024. Messi personally made significant contributions to the overall success of the club and the team with 28 goals and 18 assists in 2024.

Notably, Messi was just named MLS Player of the Year 2024. Even if he fails to win the 2024 MLS Grand Final, the 37-year-old star will still be named thanks to his convincing performance at Inter Miami.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo continues to demonstrate his incredible scoring ability. With 50 goals for both club and country in 2024, CR7 once again affirmed his position as one of the sharpest strikers on the planet. The milestone of 916 career goals also shows a glorious career of CR7 that is difficult for any player to match.

However, Ronaldo’s success has mainly focused on individual statistics. Despite his outstanding scoring record, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr has not achieved the expected success. The team has not been able to conquer the domestic championship or the AFC Champions League. At the national team level, Portugal also failed to win Euro 2024 this past summer.

Ronaldo and Messi will not play again in 2024. Al Nassr will take a winter break and will only return to play in the Saudi Pro League on January 9, 2025. Meanwhile, Inter Miami has completed its 2024 season. The team will only focus on preparing for the 2025 MLS season, which is scheduled to start on February 22, 2025.

Argentina football is not only famous for 3 World Cups, with Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi, they are also known for violence on the pitch and the serious problems of the domestic league.
