Dalmatians are a truly iconic looking breed of dog. Its place in history may be very ancient, as proof of its existence is seen in work from the early 17th century! Over the years, Dalmatians have become pop culture phenomena (101 Dalmatians, anyone?) and it’s not hard to see why. Their distinctive appearance and pleasant disposition have made them a beloved working and domestic dog!
No two Dalmatians are the same, take Wiley for example! The sweet Dalmatian rose to web fame courtesy of Instagram when the heart-shaped spot in his nostril was clearly irresistibly beautiful! Right now, Wiley the Dalmatian has over 122k followers on Instagram! Loved by his human mother, 26-year-old Lexi Smith, Wiley is “120 pounds of silly, awkward, sassy, hungry, cuddly, curious, wild, wacky, goofy, comfortable love.”
In an interview with Bored Panda, Lexi mentioned
Dalmatian litters are often 6-9 pups. Wiley was born in Oklahoma and Lexi, who lives in Colorado, crossed paths with the beloved pup on St. Patrick’s Day 2018. Dalmatian puppies are born all white, and when they’re ready to leave their mom, they’re full of their iconic spots.
He came from a litter of 11, and eight of them were males, so I had a difficult choice in selecting him. The innards were there, but not exactly designed for the place I thought they would stay, since Dalmatian spots change a lot as they grow. I selected him because the breeder told me that all he did was sleep, snuggle and eat, so we already had a lot in common.
Dalmatians are sometimes described as a very energetic breed, ideal for people who love travel and the outdoors. According to Lexi, Wiley is also full of personality!
While Wiley is a positive snuggling bug, true to his Dalmatian nature, he is very energetic. Luckily, Lexi says they live in an area where it’s easy to bring Wiley out to exert all that wild vitality!
