While on a boat trip in Miami with Luis Suarez and his family over the weekend, Lionel Messi and his beautiful wife Antonela Roccuzzo relaxed and enjoyed themselves.
On the boat, Messi wore a protective boot as he continues to heal from the ankle ligament damage that he sustained in last weekend’s Copa America final. He will likely be sidelined for an indefinite period.
This didn’t deter the Argentina captain from spending Sunday enjoying the water with Roccuzzo, Suarez, and the family of his Inter Miami teammate.Antonela posted many images to Instagram from the boat ride, which included Suarez’s wife Sofia, Mariana, Suarez’s sister-in-law, and their partner.
After traveling to the Copa America with Uruguay—who lost the semifinal match against Colombia 1-0—Suarez returned to Miami last week.
Lautaro Martinez scored the game-winning goal in extra time, allowing Messi and Argentina to beat Colombia in the final.
Messi, though, had a terrible ankle injury that night and was substituted out in the second half of regulation time.
The 37-year-old had a tumble in the 64th minute, looked over at the Argentine bench, and then left the field in agony, crying as he walked. He required extensive treatment.
When he and his colleagues got back to Buenos Aires, supporters went wild celebrating, but he didn’t join in.
Nevertheless, Messi utilized Instagram to reassure his followers that he was ‘fine’ and express gratitude for their cheers.Thank goodness I’m okay; I just want to get back out there and play the sport I love as soon as possible. I am elated, elated, elated because we accomplished our mission and Fide (Angel Di Maria) departs us with another Cup.
As Inter Miami celebrated Messi’s 45th major trophy at the Copa America, he limped onto the pitch in his protective boot before Saturday’s victory over Chicago Fire.
Among his 45 victories is the first trophy ever delivered to Miami, which he achieved last year as the team won the Leagues Cup under his leadership.
At Chase Stadium, where fans had anticipated seeing him perform magic on the field instead of limping about in a boot, he received a standing ovation.
In Saturday’s League Cup opening against Puebla, Suarez will start for Miami once again, while Messi will sit this one out.
