Sansa, a beautiful snow-white cat from New York City was born with a rare condition called heterochromia. This rare condition occurs when she has two different colored eyes and extra toes.
Possibly due to her unique appearance, Sansa’s previous owners ᴛʜʀᴇᴡ her out. As a result, this caused Sansa to suffer from extreme anxiety and panic attacks. But thankfully, Sansa was found by animal rescuers and then rescued earlier this year.
Her new owner Karen met Sansa at an adoption event. Her eyes are constantly drawn to the cage with a cat named Snowy. It was a cage that looked empty but had a sign that said the cat inside was suffering from anxiety after being abandoned by its owner and then thrown out!
“Turns out the cage wasn’t empty, it was just hiding under the cat bed! I felt an immediate connection to her because I suffered from anxiety myself and I knew I wanted her to be part of our family before I even met her,” Karen said.
“We were told that her foster parent wanted her to be adopted because she was so worried that she needed to be kept in a crib all the time,” says Karen. Sansa has attracted more than 200,000 fans on social media and more importantly has found a home.
Many people have expressed that they love Sansa’s uniqueness with her different colored eyes and extra toes. Karen, who works in healthcare consulting, specializing in helping patients with serious health problems, says she didn’t adopt Sansa because of her unique appearance. It was really because she wanted to rescue her from being locked in a cage after suffering the treatment of her previous owner.
After bringing her home, the attractive cat took a while before she could begin to trust her new owners.
Always scared, she hides behind the TV and only appears when it’s time to eat. It wasn’t until much later that Karen and her husband discovered that Sansa also had a condition called Cat Hypersensitivity Disorder, a form of anxiety.
Karen said: “As soon as she got home, we noticed that Sansa was behaving strangely, wherein her back would ‘roll’ uncontrollably, then she would attack her tail a lot times a day”.
The vet watched and after some tests she was finally diagnosed with “FHS.” After they were treated for their anxiety, along with CBD oil, Sansa’s anxiety subsided and she eventually became the queen of her domain.
Sansa has now learned to relax knowing that she is no longer afraid of anything. “She has declared the apartment her own and is the true queen of our family,” said her new owner.
Queen Sansa wakes us up at 6 a.m. daily to announce that she’s hungry, and if we don’t get up in time, she’ll bang everything out of the nightstand.
The cat, who went through a rough few years because of his paws, is finally enjoying life thanks to his loving new family !
