In eastern Ukraine, soldiers residing in trenches have discovered an unusual source of comfort through the presence of stray cats in their shelters.
There are some cats that are not strays but domestic cats rescued from bombed villages. They contribute to improve morale and safeguard the soldiers who reside and fight in the surroundings. In the trenches of Volodymyr’s platoon, approximately 15 cats have settled with the soldiers.
Volodymyr shared that the cats were left behind and it was up to them to survive on their own. With compassion, he proceeded to serve them the leftover soup. An army medical assistant also weighed in, stating that the cats could bring a sense of comfort and encouragement to soldiers who were feeling homesick.
According to him, having cats around is like having a natural mood booster that instantly lifts your spirits. All it takes is a simple call, and they come running at you in a swarm. One of the soldiers even went so far as to express how much he adores his hunting black cat, Hanukkah. Meanwhile, another soldier shared how his feline friend, when lying on his stomach asking for pets, has a calming effect that is almost sedative-like.
Several soldiers who have been serving on the front lines for months have developed close bonds with stray animals and brought them home to keep them safe from battle. A military medical assistant, nicknamed Rodon, mentioned that these cats have become a source of comfort for homesick soldiers. He added that they act as an antidepressant by improving their mood and lifting their spirits.
When you call Rodon, he will back you up and send you a whole group of helpers. The best part? You’ll feel so much better in no time! In addition to taking care of soldiers, Rodon also takes care of dogs, giving them remedies from his personal medicine chest. Don’t forget to hit the back to top button!
