Shridhar Chillal, 78 years old, once set a Guinness record as the person with the longest nails in the world.
However, this Indian man has just announced that he plans to cut his 2m long nails to donate to the museum, although he has not announced the exact time.
He said: “I have been growing this nail since 1952, it has been more than 60 years now. Now I am 78 years old and my health does not allow me to continue growing my nails. My wish is just that maybe preserve the nail in a museum.”
When recorded in the Guinness Book of Records in 2016, Shridhar shared that this was the biggest success of his life.
Once shared about the decision to grow long nails, Mr. Shridhar recalled: “When we were students, we were punished by a teacher for damaging his fingernails. This teacher also has very good nails. We asked him why he punished students for that. He said that we don’t understand because we don’t grow long nails. If we keep our nails long, we will understand what it means. Don’t cut your nails.”
From that moment, Shridhar started growing his fingernails. Currently this set of nails has a total length of 909.6cm
The nail on the thumb is the longest with 2m, followed by the middle finger with 186.6cm, the ring finger with 181.6cm, the little finger with 179.1cm and the shortest with the index finger with 164.5cm.
Later, Mr. Shridhar decided to grow only his left nail so he could pursue other passions such as photography.
To grow his nails, Mr. Shridhar faced many difficulties: “At first, my family and teachers strongly objected, but I still decided I would never cut my nails again. Difficulties seem to appear everywhere. My family doesn’t like this so no one washes my clothes and I have to wash them by hand. Also no boss wants to hire someone with long nails. who dares to marry me I have met 10 or 12 girls. If the girl agrees to marry, their parents object because I may hurt their daughter. If the girl’s parents agree, then the girl. that’s not wanting to marry a dirty person like me.”
Finally, he married his sister-in-law when he was 29 years old.
