Astronomers are investigating “strange signals” coming from a dwarf star, possibly an alien message sent to Earth.
The Arecibo Observatory, in Puerto Rico, has just detected mysterious signals from a star called Ross 128. These signals were collected during the study of red dwarf stars by scientists to look for planets orbiting them.
However, astronomer Abel Mendez doubts the possibility that aliens are behind the appearance of these signals.
‘Alien signaling is the last hypothesis on the list that has many better explanations,’ Dr Mendez said.
The cause of these signals baffled the team. Many theories have been put forward in an attempt to explain this problem.
One theory is that due to the rays of the sun, energy shoots out from the surface of the dwarf star at the speed of light.
The second hypothesis suspects the signals are coming from a separate object within the range of Ross 128.
Dr. Mendez rejected the second theory. He said: “There are not many objects in the area”.
However, he said he was prepared to celebrate if he detected a signal sent by aliens.
Last week, sources of the Daily Star revealed information from secret documents, US and British warplanes were ordered to chase a giant UFO that appeared in the Mediterranean.
