Andre and Angie got married in 2016. Since then, they began a beautiful family together with the two children Angie already had. A couple of years later, they decided they wanted to have more children, but they couldn’t imagine they would become the parents of truly special twins.

The couple resides in the city of Gainesville, Florida, United States.

Angie became pregnant, and during one of the routine check-ups, doctors began to notice that something was not quite right. An ultrasound revealed two twins joined together in the shape of a heart. Minutes later, the doctors performed several tests and confirmed that they were indeed conjoined twins.

“We had no idea that we would have twins, let alone conjoined twins,” Angie said.

The doctors warned them that it wouldn’t be easy, but Andre and Angie decided to move forward and give their all to ensure their little ones grew as strong as possible. Once the twins were born, they stayed in the hospital with their mother while Andre had to stay at home with the rest of the children.

The twins were sharing their liver and intestines.

It wasn’t an easy time. The conjoined twins had to undergo a series of surgeries to survive, so Andre worked three different jobs, took care of the children, and even sought extra time to accompany his wife and the newborn twins.

In total, the twins had to undergo seven surgeries.

Fortunately, all the sacrifices paid off. When the little ones turned two months old, the doctors decided to perform a surgery to separate them. In addition to that, each one needed several additional surgeries to ensure their complete well-being. During the early months, the little ones experienced many respiratory and blood pressure issues, but they proved to be true fighters.

“I am so thrilled to have them home,” said Andre.

After months of anguish, the parents are now happier than ever to be back home with their twins. They have started getting to know them and are beginning to see the details of each one’s personality.

“They are complete opposites. Jesi will be our philosopher, and Remi will be our Hannah Montana,” they shared with joy.

Now, Remi and Jesi can continue to enjoy their first months of life in the comfort of their home. The love and constant support from their parents have allowed these incredibly special twins to overcome every obstacle.
