Conservation Status & Population of pythons
Pythons are often killed for their skins. It is estimated that nearly 10,000 individuals are killed each year for their skins. These pythons are also threatened by people who try to make them pets. Improper care is causing the number of pythons in many parts of the world to be suppressed.
However, despite these dangers, the python is not listed as threatened or endangered. Their populations are believed to be increasing. In some parts of the world, this is due to the cultivation of pythons to kill off crop-destroying rodents.

Red pythons are belted but they do not have venom that is harmful to humans. In fact, all species in the family Pythonidae are non-venomous.
