With the longest eyelash on a dog ever, Newfypoo shatters the record

Coco the newfypoo has broken a long-standing record with her luscious lashes.

The six-year-old newfoundland and poodle cross – also known as a newfiedoodle – has the longest eyelash on a dog at 17.8 cm (7 in).

This record has been going for more than 20 years, and the standard has progressed massively since then.

It was originally held in 2000 by golden cocker spaniel Sua (Spain), who had 4 cm (1.57 in) lashes.

The record has been broken numerous times, with the length of the longest lash on each pup growing extensively.

The last record holder was Australian labradoodle Ranmura (Japan) in 2014, who had a lash measuring 17 cm (6.69 in).

Coco’s lashes are totally safe, as verified by a vet, and don’t affect her vision… except for making her the prettiest dog at the park.

Like the human record, the record applies to a single eyelash rather than multiple ones.

To bag the title, Coco’s lashes were measured by a qualified vet, who took three separate measurements of the longest eyelash she has.

Coco’s lashes were also verified to have grown naturally without being modified in any way.

Measurements were taken from the tip of the eyelash to the eyelid.

Coco and her luscious lashes

Gorgeous Coco lives in California with her sister Juno, a white poodle mix affectionately known as “Scamp” and proud owners Rachelle Parks and her husband Michael Babich.

A delighted Rachelle told us: “When we go out she gets a lot of attention, not just because of her lashes but also her size – she’s a big girl.

“People are amazed at her lashes. A few years ago they were like 5 1/2 inches long and when I checked on Guinness World Records the current world record was longer.

“Late last year I checked again and they had grown a lot and then I realized that she would break the record, so I applied.

“I’m sure they are still growing and I also tell the groomer – do not cut them!”

Rachelle describes Coco as the ‘sweetest dog you’d ever want to meet’ and says she loves all dogs, humans and even the bunnies that show up in their yard to play with her every day.

The proud dog mum, who has been an attorney for 30 years, rescued Coco after a breeder passed her and a sibling to a rescue group in Toledo, Ohio after a family emergency left them unable to sell the pups.

Rachelle, who wants to help rescue animals when she retires, had wanted desperately to rescue a newfoundland but couldn’t due to her husband’s allergies.

One day, she met a woman who had a newfiedoodle of her own and after plenty of research and an eight-month wait, Coco found her forever home at the age of three months.

Rachelle and her husband also rescued “Scamp”, named for her cheeky personality, after she was taken into a shelter as a stray, and she and Coco have become the best of friends.

Coco shows off her eyelashes on a walk

Despite us letting our imaginations get carried away, Rachelle assures us Coco doesn’t actually flutter her eyelashes to get her own way… but she does have a very distinctive walk.

Rachelle said: “She moves her butt to and fro in sort of a sexy walk, that’s the best way I can describe it. It’s very unique.”

Coco’s favourite activities include barking at the black cat who simply insists on walking past the window at 7 pm each night.

And quite frankly, even if the cat isn’t there, she’ll just bark anyway!

Funny Coco brings Rachelle so much joy she’s even considering writing a children’s book about her adventures.

We’d love to read it!
