Tio Chico, a Brazilian named Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita, holds the world record for the distance between an eyeball popping (male).
When Sidney’s eyeballs protruded 18.2 mm (0.71 in) beyond his eye sockets, they entered the Guinness World Records 2023 book. On January 10, 2022, the record was confirmed in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
At the age of nine, Tio Chico realized he had a skill. His eyes could protrude far farther than his colleagues’, which he discovered when making ridiculous expressions in front of the mirror. He demonstrated for his family and friends, who were very moved by his abilities.
His parents were worried that it may be a sickness symptom, but thankfully it wasn’t. In actuality, it was merely a remarkable talent!
Sidney Mesquita briefly raised his gaze to the mirror.
The word “globe luxation” refers to the condition in which the eyeball “pops” or protrudes from the eye socket.
An optometrist must do the precise science of measuring the “pop” using a proptometer; the final, eye-watering result is the average of three measures.
Thankfully, his illness has no negative effects on his happiness or health. In reality, Sidney has an unusual gift, according to his ophthalmologist.
“My talent is unquestionably a gift. My mother, my father, and the creator all contributed to it “claims Sydney.
Sidney doesn’t have to necessarily prepare for this. He developed this talent after being born with it. He wants to make the most of it and display his special skill to the world.
He is really grateful for this gift because it has altered both his personal and professional lives. He is now highly recognized across the world, not only in Brazil.
Sidney Mesquita Carvalho blinks in front of the mirror while wearing an orange t-shirt.
He compares the sensation of his eyes bursting to “letting go of some part of my body.”
Before his eyes can regain focus, he briefly loses his vision. He has the ability to pop his eyes for 20 to 30 seconds. Nobody else that Sidney has ever encountered can pull off this stunt!
He takes care of his eyes by lubricating them with eye drops, especially when he attends events. While performing the stunts, he is not in pain, although he does experience some burning as the oxygen starts to dry his eyes. He can’t reveal his eyes for too long, therefore.
Sidney takes great satisfaction in his capacity to adapt to many surroundings. In his own words, he is a chameleon. He works full-time in sales for the electronic business, which keeps him quite busy.
He enjoys going to live events where he may use his special talent to amuse others. In addition, he performs as a percussionist and DJ, has a tiny hamburger delivery business called “Tio Chico’s Burger,” and occasionally dresses up as Uncle Fester from the Addams Family.
He likes to travel, see movies, spend time with his wife Egly, or just do simple things with her in his leisure time. She is his biggest admirer.
She wasn’t first aware of his talent. When one of Sidney’s friends requested him to pop his eyes after they were engaged, Egly was shocked to learn about it.
Egly described her spouse as “beautiful, caring, and has a nice heart.”
When Sidney learned that Guinness World Records had certified his eyeball pop, he described the experience as “absolute thrill coupled with pleasure and ecstasy.”
“Holding a record is a fantastic experience—out of this world—that has made me truly aware of my capabilities!”
Sidney said that youngsters and children are amazed by the technique and adore it. However, when he executes it, elderly folks are more terrified. His closest followers believe his eyes are wonderful and praise him for them.
He said of his achievement of a Guinness World Record, “I have no words to explain so much delight.”
“A dream realized means opening doors for my work to be even more recognized, and as a member of the Guinness World Records family, I hope to make the most of this great opportunity.”
The record for the farthest eyeball pop belongs to Kim Goodman (USA) (female). She has the ability to pop her eyes out of their sockets by 12 mm (0.47 in). On November 2nd, 2007, her eyes were measured in Istanbul, Turkey.
