The behavior of the python grabs the bait
Deer pythons usually live alone. does not interact with any individuals of the same species in the area, except during the breeding season. They are usually nocturnal and expose themselves during the day if the night temperature is low. Pythons are capable of climbing trees in search of food, but they live mainly on the ground. Most species of pythons and snakes do not actively attack, but if they feel threatened, they will cower and wait for an opportunity to counterattack. A python bite can cause pain and bleeding but does not affect human life. While Pythons living in Central America are easily excitable, their South American cousins are more calm and easygoing.
The food of the decoy python
– Pythons are omnivores, so they have a fairly diverse number of prey, from small animals such as mice, birds, bats, lizards, small amphibians to medium-sized species and bigger. Deer pythons often move to the location where their prey often moves, lie there ambush and wait for the right time to attack. However, in the wild they often actively hunt and move at night. When detecting prey, Python will suddenly tighten the victim, close the distance and curl up to squeeze the prey. The victim may lose consciousness or die immediately because the blood cannot circulate. Depending on the size of the prey, pythons can digest them in 4-5 days. Deer pythons can go without food for a week to several months due to their slow metabolism.
Reproduction of pythons
Pythons consider their prey to be sexually mature at 3-4 years of age. During the breeding season, female pythons emit a scent from the cloaca to attract males. The mating process will last from a few minutes to a few hours and can happen several times over a long period of time (from 1-3 weeks). When female pythons ovulate, their abdomen will swell as if they are swallowing prey. The gestation period is from 100-120 days. Young pythons give birth to about 10-65 pups per litter, with an average length of 37-50 cm. Immediately, the newborn python will crawl away and develop independently.
